GOALE orientation

GOALE gopher orientation and leadership experience - a group of first year students gather in a group at orientation

GOALE is a largely experiential course designed to introduce first-year students to the veterinary college, the veterinary program, and the veterinary profession.

The course begins a multi-day orientation on campus, 4-5 follow up informational meetings in the Fall, and monthly 2 hour mentor group meetings throughout the first year of the DVM program. The monthly meetings are experiential in design and focus on leadership development, emotional intelligence, communication, and conflict management. The first two orientation days, and subsequent hour-long meetings, introduce students to the college facilities and resources and address logistics necessary for participation in the program. Students work in mentor groups of 10-11 students and 1-2 faculty mentors throughout the course.
